Summary/Objective:  Responsible for providing a high level of customer service to students regarding all aspects of their account, including problem research and resolution. Work involves professional accounting activities, including reconciliation of accounts, invoicing, and routine collection activities under the direction of the supervisor.  Duties require knowledge and experience with student accounts and of federal and state financial aid programs.

Essential Functions:

Acts as the liaison between the Finance Office and the Student Financial Services Office

The primary focus of this position is to ensure timely and accurate invoicing of students, collection of receivables, and compliant and accurate disbursement of federal, state and private student financial aid

This position requires prompt notification to Administration of any unresolved discrepancies and/or potential liability to the College.

Job requires extended work hours during peak work periods.

Responsible for updating the Colleague billing tables and complete coordination of the Accounts Receivable Colleague function within the Student Financial Services Office.

Perform other duties and responsibilities as required, included but not limited to general ledger reconciliation of accounts receivable, cash, tuition and related accounts; ensure invoicing of student accounts is accurate; tuition test to ensure students are invoiced correctly; and other accounting functions

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance. In lieu of degree, 10+ years of relevant experience.  5+ year experience in similar supervisor position

Experience in a higher education setting is a plus. Preference will be given to applicants with directly related experience in use of or administration of Ellucian’s Colleague student software 

Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge of fund accounting and generally accepted accounting principles

Strong interpersonal skills, analytical skills, service orientation, active listening, critical thinking, attention to detail, ability to multi-task in a high volume environment, organizational skills, effective verbal and written communication skills, sound judgment and decision making.

Ability to function effectively as a member of a team.

Proficiency in the use of spreadsheet and database software.

Advising/Coaching Counselor

Bloomfield College is seeking an academic advisor/coaching counselor.  The position reports to the Registrar and Director of Advising.      

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Advise/coach students as assigned;
  • Evaluate transcripts for students transferring to Bloomfield College and input those credits into the system;
  • Contact students who have failed classes and change their schedules;
  • Assist with first year, sophomore and junior checks;
  • Assist with counter duties in the Registrar’s Office including attendance verification and the preparation of transcripts;
  • Serve as a liaison to a division as assigned by the Director;
  • Participate in new student and transfer student events, as assigned; and,
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Masters degree required
  • Experience with Datatel Colleague system
  • A record of progressively increasing responsibility, preferably in a higher education setting
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service philosophy
  • Demonstrate creative problem solving
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
  • Excellent oral, written and communication skills

This is a 12 month position. Hours: 8:30 am – 4:30 pm, M, T, R & F; Wed- 10:00 am-6:00 pm.

Assistant Director of American Language Center and Culture Activities

Basic Function:

The Assistant Director (AD) is a full-time position in the Office of International Training and Professional Studies (ITPS) within the International Programs department. The AD provides administrative support to American Language Center of ITPS and International Students Activities while under the supervision and direction of the Director of Global Education and Curriculum Specialist.  The AD will manage and direct all aspects related to American Language Center and International Programs including the logistical needs of the department, development of all program related events; and, guidance and support of students and staff as needed.  Evening and weekend hours are required.  Limited travel for marketing purposes is required.

Principle Function and Responsibilities:

  • Develop curriculum for ALC programs and all international programs
  • Oversee all ALC program operations
  • Coordinates all the logistical needs of programs including, but not limited to, student housing arrangements, all details of transportation and scheduling of classroom space
  • Manage ESL program enrollment and meet revenue goals
  • Develop new ESL programs and Market ALC programs to overseas and agencies
  • Assist the Director of Global Education in global outreach and growth of international programs
  • Advisor of domestic and international ESL students
  • Coordinates all events scheduled for programs including, but not limited to, preparing materials, scheduling speakers and space; and, all other details to ensure the success of each event
  • Maintain and develop internship opportunities with domestic partners
  • Manage role and provide guidance for School Liaisons
  • Assist in registering students and processing students/instructor payments as needed
  • Maintains orderly and updated file documentation for students
  • Hire qualified and experienced language instructors and workshop facilitators
  • Schedule classes and manage ongoing classes
  • Participates in staff development activities, including regular staff meeting
  • Works cooperatively with all other staff members including program instructors, both within the division and with the campus at large, to maximize the short and long term success of the programs
  • Supports ITPS to create promotional materials
  • Helps to problem solve across the organization
  • A requirement of this position will be to drive department vehicles when necessary
  • Additional duties as required.
  • Provide students, clients, partners and co-workers with the highest level of service excellence and professionalism so as to enhance retention and provide growth for the department.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree is required in International Education, Bilingual Education or related disciplines.
  • At least 8 years’ experience teaching/teaching certificate from any state/or TEFL/TESOL certification
  • 3 years + proven operations, adult education, program management or logistics in a higher learning environment work experience.
  • Experience with international students or educational exchange programming.
  • Proven project management and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • A valid driver’s license is required.
