In 2018, Bloomfield College will celebrate its 150th Anniversary. On Thursday, September 14, 2017, the campus community launched its yearlong 150th Anniversary celebration.

Members of the Board of Trustees, faculty, staff, students, alumni, and community members, including Bloomfield Mayor Michael J. Venezia, joined President Richard A. Levao and the 150th Anniversary Committee in Westminster Hall for a program and photos with Deacon the Bear.

The 150th Anniversary Committee, co-chaired by Trustees Rosemary Iversen and John Skowronski ’91, is comprised of Trustees, faculty, staff, and alumni.

Refreshments were served and Bloomfield College stories were shared between alumni and students. Alumnus Rev. Ernie Kosa ’45 and his wife, Barbara, attended the event.

Rev. Kosa was in the last graduating class to leave the seminary before Bloomfield College transformed into a liberal arts school.

Rev. Kosa entered the Chaplaincy of the United States Army in October 1952, and was sent to Korea in April 1953 as Chaplain of the Second Battalion, 279th Infantry. During his 20 years as a Military Chaplain, he was stationed in New Rochelle, NY; Ft. Bliss, TX; Korea; Ft. Benning, GA; Fort Eustis, VA; Syracuse, Ft. Hamilton, NY; Bamberg and Heidelberg, Germany; Qui Nhon and Binh Thuy, Vietnam; and Fort Dix, NJ.

The College revealed its new logo, designed in-house by Director of Marketing, Rick Burchfield, commemorating the upcoming anniversary, and will launch an official 150th website soon. The microsite will feature weekly updates and alumni stories, as well as an interactive, historical timeline, and will keep an up-to-date events agenda.
